hi,
I am having a problem with my IRN "Quinn". I have had him for about 4 months. we are not sure how old he is he was found outside in the snow by a third party. We clipped his wigns about 2 weeks after I got him. He was a little upset but ok. Stepping up and coming out of his cage like a champ. well about 2 months ago he started jumping off his cage and tree stand when i would go to pick him up. If he is in his cage he runs around and is scared to step up. once i have him out he is fine loves to be pet and hang out with me. He goes to work with me sometimes and is doing the samething at work. he has hurt himself and broken alot of his tail feathers. He is a great bird when he is out he will go to anybody and sit on your sholders. just not sure what to do. Help!! I love this bird and want him to be happy and feel safe.

Hello,
It's breeding season right now maybe that's the reason.

my suggestion is when you walk up to the cage, talk in a soothing voice.. Hold your hand out (mmm, like your finger in a perch like position - hope that made sense).. and walk up to Quinn slowly.. this is so that he anticipates your coming toward him..
maybe hold a treat out to him.. that will make him feel more comfy..

Breeding season could be the reason but the above should help..
