What do you think of them, and are they really safe? They kind of make me nervous. Our birds wings are clipped and I was thinking with it being strapped across the chest bone, if they try to fly off and get snapped back by the leash it might hurt them. Am I over reacting or is that a possiblity. They look like a good idea, but not sure about there safty, any advise??
Thanks.

My advice is to save your money. Havent met a bird yet that likes them and met very few that will even tolerate them.
If the bird is clipped, it isnt going anywhere. It may flutter a few feet ahead of you if frightened, so be careful around cars or other things. Other than that... two thumbs down.
Do a search on them above... at the top of the page. Here we go...

I tried one on Prinny a while back and took it back to the store immediatly. She hated it and almost took a hunk of my flesh for even trying...
Let us know if it works out...

Is she patient and then Boom, had enough... done... leave me alone or else!
Baby isnt patient at all and he would sooner die than have that thing on him. He is so funny now that he wont bite me. He holds his beak open and puts that hateful look on his face and holds that pose, all puffed up.
I aint scared of his ****. He sure wishes I were though and if he has his way Im sure he will try soon to 'tame' me a little.
And another thing... Baby still doesnt pin. Except while he eats fresh foods. He just isnt into the act of pinning and never has been. Still has those mouse eyes always.

Thank you so much for all the comments and advise. I have decided against them. I just feel like that are not very safe. But thats JMO. I would just feel horrible if I had this feeling got one, and then something happened while one of our birds was wearing it. Thanks again!

I tried one with Nila and he about hung himself before I got it on him even, If the one you looked at is like the one I bought it has a loop that goes over the head but nothing to stop it from being tightened too much around the neck, I got the loop over the head and Nila got the end with his foot and he pulled the end down and lifted his head up and tightened it around his neck and I had to fight to get him to let loose of the end , it kept getting tighter and tighter around his neck as he struggled. I took it back and will never again use anything that goes over the head and around the neck.
I did purchase a flight suit. Nila loves to play with it and attack it, I've never even been close to getting it on him. But he loves to chew on it.
Oh well.

Just do it Dani. She wont flutter cuz she'll be so overwhelmed. Like a youngen, throw that bird on your shoulder and get to stepping girl.
Baby perches on the side of my purse and we ride out. He is an accessory, my son says.
I dont even know he is there and he is happy as a pig in mud!

I too am afraid to take my Nila out, the only place I take him is into my back yard where there are no large trees in case he gets frightened or decides to try his clipped wings and makes it to a low branch and then climbs to the top and a hawk comes and eats him before I can get to him or at the street a car could come and run over him or
boy i could go on and on, I imagine all kinds of bad things happening. (Whew, I'm all sweaty and nervous just thinking about it all

)
I do take him out to get the mail but I always hold him on my chest and have my hand over his back so he can't startle and fly into the road.
I do take him for rides in the car but I always take his travel cage and then let him out once i'm in the car with him. He loves it.
Anyway Dani I get where you're coming from.

I too wait until we're in the car to let them out (so many others would scold us for that but my babies have proved to be really good)
I don't think I could handle it if Prinny startled and took off...she is one strong flyer

Nila has been strengthening and trying his clipped wings for the last two weeks.
He hangs on the side of his cage or a toy and flaps for all he's worth. I know his little wings are clipped but if he got outside and there was a strong wind and he flapped I think he would be able to go quite a distance.

Most breeders don't allow their babies to fully and completely fledge and learn the art of flying. Mine did and Prinny get lift even with a full clip. We have to be very careful with her...Bodi on the other hand sink like a rock...his breeder didn't allow him to learn it.
