I am collecting parrot books for knowledge. So far I have:

Guide to a Well Behaved Parrot
The Healthy Bird Cookbook
Guide to Companion Parrot Behavior
My Parrot, My Friend
Your Outta Control Bird
and What Your Bird Needs

Am I missing any great books? Thanks!

Thats why I love this site so dearly... we get the info out because otherwise, its hard to find.

I would have given up on a ringneck had I not found this site because of ignorance... thinking I had a mean, awful bird. Would have been such a shame for he and I both.

I haven't seen an IRN book out there yet...grrrrr...there ought to be but this site is the best for info (sadly)

I found this site out of ignorance as well...was surfing the net trying to find as much as I could...and bingo here popped this one.

We would otherwise be a bunch of awful bird owners stumbling around just doing the best we can.

This breed can be trying to say the least. It takes a support group to raise one.

There are a few Ringneck books out there but most of them are about Breeding and Genetics.

This site is the best place for information on these birds :D

I would advise a great movie that is called "Parrots look who's talking" it has great information about why parrots are so appealing and the way they communicate!!! It is about an hour long and is a PBS production I think it is called nature. And there is a book on ringnecks I will go to the petstore tomorrow and get you the title!!!

Has anyone read Parrot Culture yet?

Image

I just saw it while I was browsing around online and got very intrigued by the reviews of it.

"In tracing the relationship between human and parrot, Boehrer, an English professor and parrot fancier, examines the influence of psittacines on all levels of society. Parrots have always been popular as pets, and interwoven with the discussion of parrots as symbols is Boehrer's analysis of our obsession with owning parrots, which has directly led to their decline. This amalgam of art, natural history, and literature will find a ready audience among the legions of bird aficionados."—Booklist

I HAD to order it asap :D

I was just looking at that one at Borders the other day. I'm going to order that next pay day since you give it a good review.

Also, I finally watched (and then ordered on eBay) The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill dvd last weekend. What an amazing story. I was so intrigued! I also cried at parts. Poor Connor  I'm going to get the book next pay day! I can't get enough of them!! I wish there was a fund I could donate to help those lil cherry heads and whoever else joins their flock!

So far though, the Parrot that owns me was a favorite. One of these days I will pick it up to own...(was at the library)

 I just ordered The Parrot Who Owns Me from eBay. Quick! Someone hurry! Stop me from my ordering craze! That makes 5 books, now that I've ordered today. How am I ever going to pay off my credit card *sigh* I guess it's okay because it was only $8 with shipping...but I guess every lil bit adds up
