Help!!! my "BABY" loves to bite....

Hi, I am new to this site, so bare with me...I have had my IRN for a couple months, not sure if male or female yet, was hand fed before I got him...I love him to death, but he just hates fingers. He will bite hard enough to draw blood. I want so much to pet him, but I am afraid. I let him out of his cage, and we play on the floor with toys, but, if a finger is close, consider it bitten.
Also, can you tell me what "step ups" are? Mind you, I cannot get close enough to him to teach him anything, unless I have an apple or something. He is already talking, he says HEY BABY, blows kisses, wolf whistle, and is trying to say WHATCHA DOIN. He is learning quickly. Please, please, please can you give me some advise on how to teach him not to bite. Thanks a bunch!!!

Type in 'bite' in the search feature and many threads will come up, as this is a common problem, discussed often. :D

Search can be found at the very top of this page.

Don't give up! Stay here and learn, learn, learn (yes, we all learn the "search" option does wonders! A irn library at your fingertips.)! Make a whole day out of reading all the threads on these forums. They are priceless. You will learn a lot. You have to have patience with irn's. You have to hold them as often as possible and interact. Never pull away from a bite no matter how much it hurts (there's sometimes when my Baby thinks my fingernail is a peanut shell ). It's hard but it's necessary. I will also refer you to some books I own that are also invaluable:

Your Outta Control Bird
My Parrot, My Friend : An Owner's Guide to Parrot Behavior
Guide to Companion Parrot Behavior
Guide to a Well-Behaved Parrot

Please, stay and learn with us all! You will have a lil angel in time!!
