This may be Q for the vet. My vet once told me how they calculate how much they can draw. I get the feeling it is a standard percentage of, maybe, weight.

Going by memory, which is near the reliability of a gold fish, I believe it is approx 10percent of weight in grams. Ie: 100gm ringneck has 10mls. 1percent is considered the safe maximum to draw from parrots.
