My husband wants one sooo badly but truly believes a macaw could snap one of my fingers... probably even my wrist if it decided it wanted to so we dont have one.
I dont think macaws strike out like that? I dont know because I havent done much research knowing my man was so weary.
Mik, hun, macaws have never ripped a finger off. They can 'snap a broom stick' but not a finger. That's a stupid myth someone decided to run around. Look them up...they can make awesome companions to the right person
Since Baby has started being so boyish and active, Jeff has actually estabished a relationship with Baby.
He still makes him a little nervous but he knows if he is coming around it is usually with something to shove in his mouth 'here boy' and he walks away.
He adores macaws... like is literally is awe of them. Plus, we live in Florida!
Imma research it. So never has one known to strike out like a ringneck? The just arent like that?
They do lunge but it's not as quick as an IRNs...most macaws are pretty docile...especially the B&Gs. Most of what they do are for show only but a good solid bite hurts something feirce...you just have to watch the bird and make sure you aren't doing anything wrong
No worries surfer...more than likely Rio will me mine. Bodi and I are going over there tomorrow to see how he does. Rio has been checked and rechecked and rechecked for all types of things from the best avian vet here in cali so I know she is safe.
That is such a beautiful bird. I usually get hung up on the missing feathers, this one is still a beauty. Just wait until all the feather start to grow back in if the bird will ever let them. Either way Rio looks like a fun and loving bird and is a great looking bird.
