Hi all, I'm Missi, 23 years old, currently living in Southwest Florida (Naples). I just got my baby (3 months I was told) lutino irn Saturday evening. She (I was told is a "she" we're getting a DNA test done at an aviary Sunday, though) is *such* a sweetie and a true blessing! We take her everywhere with us (from the pool [on her jungle-gym beside the pool of course], to grandpa's house, to car trips). She gives the best lil kisses and I just love that warm birdie smell!
Her, my boyfriend, and I spent all day yesterday together. However, I am worried to leave her during the day for work (today my boyfriend is off and tending to her). Tomorrow will be the first day she is alone from 9 to 5 and they are working on the exterior of our apartment so there is a lot of banging and I'm very worried about her getting stressed out. I have like 6 toys in her cage. I have a preening pinyata toy, leather toy, plastic and wood toys. I hope this will be enough to keep her occupied. She eats Hagen pellets (the ones that smell like bubblegum) and a cockatiel seed mixture (no sunflower seeds!) and peanuts here and there for treats.
I have not been able to find a whole lot of great info on websites so I hope being a member here will help. Thank you! :D

I will post pics tomorrow evening as I am at my full time job now and then have to work my part time job later this evening (Petco )

Oops, I forgot to mention, I feed melon, grapes, and carrots as well! What other fruits and veggies are good?

Welcome and *hugs* from Prinny Bodi and me. Feeding...you can feed anything EXCEPT avacado, caffine, apple seeds...hrm if you use the search tool you can find different topics that have been discussed earlier.

Welcome again!

We love pics

Very true! I got caught up in my intro before reading the whole forum. Thanks for the welcome and I WILL have pics up soon, no doubt!! :D

*EDIT* I forgot to ask, is it true that acidic fruits like oranges, grapefruit, and pineapple are not recomended for irn's? This is what the woman at the aviary told me, but I heard they love pineapple and oranges elsewhere. Thank you!

Rule of thumb is if you will eat it so will they. My ekkie will eat just about everything...and anything. Prinny enjoys pineapple and oranges and I don't deny her them. Everything in moderation!

I have also found that when I have her out by me, she begs for my food! She'll also climb up my arm to my shoulder and steal food from my hand or mouth! It's so cute but I never let her have *too* much  A favourite of her is Pizza Hut crust! I know it is bad for her though :P
