New IRN, Amazon

Hi all, I have a young IRN that I've been hand feeding since s/he was about 3-4 weeks of age and I thought it was about time for a proper introduction. I've trolled the boards and site for a while before deciding on little Baby Blue, and found a wealth of information that helped with my final decision to get him/her.

Just a couple weeks later, the bug hit me again and I got another parrot: Gonzo, an Orange Winged Amazon. They have grown up together and spent their babyhood cuddled up with each other and share the same cage. Adorable.

But that's precisely what I'm most concerned about. I am a veterinary assistant for an avian veterinarian, so I am knowledgable about many aspects of bird ownership. However, the IRN is not particularly common with the breeders and owners we work with, besides the coworker of mine whom I purchased Baby Blue from. Many times, two different species of birds can be kept together without problems if they are raised together from a very early age. I am curious if anyone else has done this with their IRN, including the same cage and all? I am particularly interested in hearing from jen5239 and Mik, since I noticed they own 'tiels as well. Also curious to know what I might expect during the bluffing period? They are both (nearly) fully feathered now, and the IRN, being a few weeks older, is already weaned(!) and fledged.

They get along great now (they even enjoy mutual preening), except Baby Blue is occassionally nippy with Gonzo when Gonzo clumsily practices his wing flapping. Just hoping for some species-specific feedback on what I can expect. Enjoy:

Welcome first and foremost! My Prinny (IRN) and Bodi (ekkie) get along but not well but then again they weren't raised together like yours. Sounds like they should be ok just keep a watchful eye on them
