Hi I'm new to irn's and irn.com.I got olly-olly a few days ago. He/she is a dark green 3 month old hormonal baby who loves climbing, apple,my familys hair(big curly bushy hair)and trees.I got olly-olly since I lost my dog Billy who was 14 and my Cheeky-Chops who was a 1 year old lutino cockatiel who died of giardia even though we were treating her for it. Billy died on the Monday after easter and Cheeky died on either the 25 or 26 of april since she died in her sleep, both of them this year.Seeing as it was my b'day a few days after CHeeky died i got olly-olly.Olly olly is a blessing and we love him to death.

I've got a couple of question
1.avarage lifespan
2.are japanese maples poisonous
3.do they like hbappy huts and do you have to teach them how to use it.
4.how long does an average hormonal period last for or how long did it last for your birds.
Does anyone have a dark green IRn(Just out of curiosity)
And once again HI

I'm sorry to hear about your loss :( they do fill a part of our lives.

IRN Lifespan is roughly between 25-30 years.
I Dont know about the maples.
They probably wont take to happy huts well. They arent really a snuggly bird.
I dont know about hormonal periods i never really noticed my birds having one.
Your 'dark green' is probably actually a 'grey green'. Greygreen refers to the colour of the bird wheras Dark green refers to the genetics of the bird and these birds are worth tens of thousands.

Hi Olly and welcome to the flock...

Here's a great link of food, wood, and various plants harmful to birds when ingested:

Also, make sure not to feed the apple seeds to the IRNs. Apple seeds are know to contain minute amounts of cyanide.

Hi,

I have a dark green male named Bebe he's great fun and a good pal.

I'm not sure what a 'Happy Hut' is but I'll assume it is similar to a 'Birdy Buddy'. I made a BB out of an old face towel and attached it to a little bottom frame. The thing is draped over/through the bars of the cage; it is 9in L x 6in Dx 3.5inW. Bebe loves this thing and will put himself to bed in it if I'm running late to cover him. It took him about 4 weeks to get used to it enough to explore it then to use it. It is a great hiding place for him and he likes to hook into the sides of it and peek out. The frame needs to get de-pooped twice monthly or there'd be a mountain of poop in it.
