I got to SCRITCH BYNDI TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SEVERAL TIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am simply elated! He was at the front of his cage kind of flirting with me, so I thought I'd chat with him. I'm talking to him very softly and he starts making his usual noises and so I stick my finger thru the bars and he takes it in his beak. No biting. Then lifts his head and I actually got to scritch under his neck. And he DIDN'T FREAK!!!!!!!!!! He just sat there making these little noises and his eyes pinning, wings bowed, and let me scritch him!!! I am just simply freaking out! I was late to work cuz I just couldn't pull myself away! He let me do this for quite a while. Then I tried with two fingers on each side of his head. This kind of startled him at first but then he let me. You guys just don't know how elated I truly am! I can't wait to get home and try it again tonight. I don't know if this is going to be an early morning thing or if he's going to decide it's not so bad and let me do it. I'm so happy. I actually got to touch my Byndi!!!!!!!!!!!! I was running around the house this a.m. singing, "I got to pet Byndi, I got to pet Byndi!" I'm so happy!!!

Thanks you guys! I am just tickled. Do you realize I've had him for close to 7 months now and this is the FIRST time I've really touched him! The first time. I mean he steps up and boogies up to my shoulder, but I actually got to PET him! And he looked like he was really enjoying it. I'm just so happy. I'll try to get video so you guys can see. But knowing him it's not going to happen. But thanks for all the encouraging words. Maybe he's going to hang out in my lap someday and just let me scritch him to my hearts content!

omg I am so jealous! but so damn happy for you !! ..

My kai is wonderfully tame now.. he hangs with us all the time.. climbs all over us. he even lept on my head today while I was bent over picking up things and thought it was hilarious as he laughed and lept back onto his stand. But to touch him.. no way.. I can only kiss him and touch his beak, like to clean stuff of it or such.

I would love to have him let me scritch him, I think I would just cry!

Hey you know what .. our Kai has just started being totally at ease with the whole family thing .. even hubby has noticed a great change in him lately and we have him about 7 months too. Maybe this is a pattern for older not hand raised .. less tame birds.
