Why do the males manifest a green phenotype when neither parents are green? Does the male supply the GREEN/lutino gene?

Blue is Recessive so both parents need to carry the gene either visually or split inorder to produce and Blue babies. Because the Lutino Cock is not split Blue, then all babies will go back to the normal Green colour but they will be carrying the split.

Lutino = Green ino
Blue = Blue

So when pairing a Green series bird to a Blue series bird, all the babies will visually be Green series and split to blue

A Lutino/Blue Cock x Blue Hen will produce:
Green/Blue/Lutino Cocks
Blue/Lutino Cocks
Lutino/Blue Hens
Albino Hens

From GREY x GREEN you will get for cocks and hens:

50% GREY GREEN split to blue
50% GREEN split to blue

(the CAPS being the visual color)

This is assuming you have a Single-Factor Grey male and your Green hen is not split to anything.

i had acquired them from a pet store near my place which is sad to say can't provide me exact info about the Parents Mutation/Color of my Grey Cock Ringneck,

But the Green hen is from a cross breed Green Indian Cock(Red Beak) X Green African Hen(Black Beak), which produces Green and Lutino (visual Yellow) ringneckss, does it mean there is no posiblility that i could not have a Yellow or Grey young from my current pair (Grey Cock X Green Hen)?

Hey there!

Looks like your hen has a GREEN split Lutino father. But since your hen is a visual green, she will not carry the sex-linked Lutino gene. (Hens can't be split to a sex-linked mutation). She is a normal Green with no splits.

Your best hope now is if the Grey cock is split to Lutino then you will have 25% chance of getting Lutino among the baby girls. There will also be a 25% chance of getting Masked Greygreen hens which will make them visual Lutino babies.

Actually all offsprings will be visual green. This is because Green is a dominant color.

Sorry for any confusion but the only way for you to get Lutino hens is if the father has Lutino genes (whether visual or in split). In sex-linked mutations (such as Lutino, Pallid, Cinnamon and Opaline) the color trait for hens is determined by the father. And since your male is Green and not split to Lutino, then all the hens will be visual Greens.

So for your combination: Green X Albino, you get ..

Males:
100% GREEN/Blue/Lutino

Hens:
100% GREEN/Blue
