Wobbly heads on females

Post by Tricia »

Hello,
We have 50 ringnecks which we have bred for 20 years. This is the first time we have had a problem we do not understand.
We have now 3 females with wobbly heads and do not understand why this is happening,we know what a happy head wobble is but this one is only at the moment affecting 3 females.
Can anyone help with this problem.

Hi Tricia,

I have seen it at other breeders but it has never happened to my birds, so i have little advice i can offer other than what i have found on the net.

Make sure the birds do not have mites as they would locate around the neck where the bird can not reach with the beak.

also the birds i have seen doing it recovered after the breeding season so it could be just excitement.

hopefully others can chip in with more advice.
