My irn comes out cage by himself but always flys to the curtain rail and will not move from there. Then it is a nightmare to catch her when I approach she flies of then comes back to the curtain rail.she won't step up on my finger, but will step onto a perch but as soon as I lower the perch she flies back to the curtain rail .HELP :(

I think that she feels safe on the curtain rail, let her settle and in her time fly back to the cage, you will need to identify what she sees as a treat, lay out all her food and treats and the one she pick up first will be the number one treat do not give that in her food but use it for training, stepping up and coming back to the cage.

You are not the first with this issue. Just a few thoughts:

As AJ says, a lure is needed.

Also, review how you are interacting with her to be sure she is not frightened by you. If she is, fix the problem.

Consider she may not know how to fly down, and also she may not have identified an acceptable landing site. Give her a simple, not frightening alternate perch, up high - at least five feet high.

Temporarily removing the curtain rail might help, but you will have to give her something else high (meaning she will be feeling safe there) to perch on at the same time. If you take down the curtain, you can tape paper over the windows so she won't fly against them and get hurt.

Also you might just get a small ladder and train her right there on the rail.
