SL Dom. Edged Hens
I think for better understanding this mutation, this issue has to be addressed as i believe there is a common mis-conception
that edged hens carry cinnamon, when in fact it is not so in most cases.
WHY? Because the hen is so light in color one logically assumes it must also be cinnamon.
Edged Males you can have in:
SF= Single Factor Edged
DF= Double Factor Edged
Edged hens
Pretty sure Madas annotation for hens is EF, so i use EF and correct if needed later.
EF only= Hens will only have a single pheno/genotype, much lighter than an SF Edged male, more closer to DF Edged male
Breeding Results when using Edged birds:
SF Edged Blue Male X Blue hen: Half of hens & males will be edged (hens will look lighter than edged males, can nest sex them)
DF Edged Blue Male X Blue hen: ALL hens & males will be edged (hens will look lighter than males, can nest sex them)
Blue male X Edged Blue hen: All males will be Edged, hens will be normal (can nest sex them)
*** I stand to be corrected if anyone thinks otherwise or has something to add, please do so.
