Ok guys...for those of you who don't know what MBS is I'll tell you. It is Multiple Bird Syndrome. I do believe I have it! Arrrgh! I walked into my local bird breeders (I know stupid idea *sighs*) to get Prinny more treats and toys. I was perusing the isles, taking my time because I adore this store, and I heard the familiar shriek of an unhappy IRN.
Me being me, turned around and facing me was the most stunning bird I have ever seen (besides my beloved Byndi and Prinny of course). Jen...this bird had Byndi going for his money! Everytime he moved in the light he sparkled a different blue to green to a darker blue. I was like Wow...he was clinging to the side of the cage and was flirting up a storm with me. He was wolf whistling and trying to reach me from the bars.
Of course I just had to get closer. He stared at me like I was his long lost love. A girl who works there laughed and said he never did that to anyone else. She opened the cage and let him come out. He perched there on my finger for a good ten minutes, preening and chattering away. He even gave me kisses!
I was told his story by the same girl. He ws raised there by them and was bought by an older couple. They couldn't keep him and gave him to their daughter. Well sadly the daughter had a son who was a mean little thing and would tease and torment the poor bird. She decided it was time to get rid of the bird and luckily the breeder took him back. His original name was Sparky but they've taken to calling him Huey.
Help! I seriously need someone to talk me out of this. Tell me I can't afford another bird...tell me anything to not buy this handsome fellow! I am such a sucker when it comes to birds...

As alcoholics cant walk into bars, we cant go into pet stores. This is something we must accept as part of our recovery. heh
But! You have done the right thing. Reached out and Im proud of you.
No more bird babies! You have enough. We all have enough. I want every one I see but then think of the others being without my attention and that keeps my addiction at bay.
You did great. You can always visit but thats it.

But if you're sure he's ok and isn't being neglected and you CAN'T do this then don't. But.... that's never stopped me. Tee hee. Then again, I'm NOT one that's known for thinking things thru. I'm IMPULSE big time. So... I should be telliing you no so that another doesn't steal your heart from Byndi. He'd be telling to tell you no. But... Guess I'm going to play devils advocate. Do it, do it, do it. I've got the horns and Mik has the halo! Whatever decision you make we'll love u anyway.

As far as im concerned u r defined as addicted to something i.e alcohol or birds if u cannot go through a whole day without some. Or if u feel comfortable to indulge when u r alone. So where the fids are concerened .......................................... well i rest my case, closed case, book em danno, etc etc. U an addict girlfriend jus go with the flow. natalie xxxxxx

*sighs* You guys are NO help!!! Anyway thought I'd let you know that I did end up getting Huey but not for me! My 'niece' (my best friend's daughter) is really into birds and she just loves Prinny. So I took her into the shop, not promising her anything, and told them to take Huey out. If Huey liked her he was hers. Guess what, Huey did! He hopped right out and went straight to her chest and cooed ever so softly. It was like a match made in heaven! I ended up getting her birthday present right there on the spot. He does say a few words and does a great wolf whistle to Jessie's delight.

mbs is bad but i have mcs=multiple collection syndrome. im terminal there is no cure and it only gets worse
it started not so bad with poultry/horses we/(my parents) had a lot of chickens and pigions and other foul when i was little. as well as 3 dozen horses/ponies/donkeys.
then i got into reptiles and creepy crawlies in and shortly after highschool i got every reptile i could get. i even worked at an exotics pet shop for free just to hang out and talk to other herp freaks. i also got a lot of pets for free from people who couldnt handle their large snakes and lizzards, im a big guy and see it as a challenge. i had so many and my moms boyfriend was into it to. so he would help me out in improving my and his collection if i would take care of his for him. which i didnt mind. we also had a couple of tiels and luvbds.
then i got my pair of senegals at 18 and for the last 2 yrs its all about parrots parrots parrots
zoologists say i could have owned one of every animal before i die:P
plus im an angler wich doesnt help, it destracts from treating my mcs. since i was 4 i have never passed a chance to fish. thats why the week end before my chicks were ready to hand feed i went fishing the whole time, to get it out of my system before i was stuck home with the fids all day for the next few weeks
every time i visit a body of water i look for signs of fish and ask locals about the fishing. if i havnt fished in a long time and i know i wont be for a while i watch fishing and organize my tackle and practice casting in the yard and street. once i was practicing accuracy and was making cast into the open window of my moms car, from the front door to accross the street and i hit my mom in the head with a hookless lure
its a hazzardous combination of symptoms

Hey thats gr8 that u take such a keen interest in all animals. I too am a sucker for anything animal. Your so lucky to have the space, and permission from mum to have all your pets [although i suspect she likes em 2 ]
My parents worked abroad alot when i was young so goin back and forth to saudi meant it wasnt practical for us to have any pets, but that didnt stop me feeding all the stray cats and dogs while i was there.It was my aunt who got me into the bird bug, she has been rescuing parrots with the R.S.P.B [royal society protection of birds] for 25 years now. Its her fault im a sucker for the strays !!!! Natalie xxx

we dont have any farm animals or the space for them anymore
my mom only lets me keep birds because of bubba my macaw. he is her favorite pet ever. and truth be told bubba likes my mom better than any other person. but he still likes me second best.
if bubba wasnt there to distract her she wouldnt let me have all the birds
when i move to washington my mom wants me to leave bubba with her but she knows the only way for that to happen is if i die before i move
right now i am maxed out. i cant have any more animals unless i get rid of the same amount of animals as i get. but if i build an aviary i can have more.
i am still debating if i should or not i will only be here a few more months and i cant take it with me to WA. so why put so much time $$$ and effort into it but my moms bf will help me so i think i will plus my mom might use it when i leave.
