Hi Minnie
Attached photo is a turquoise blue cleartail cock bird. In my experience they have blue bodies with green patches when they are young and the patchiness disappears as they age I do have one in a nest that I can photograph in a few days as it is about to fledge.
Kind regards
Mike

Hi Minnie
I have have bred a few TurquoiseBlue Cleartails over the years, but mostly violet and or cobalt. One of the most confusing things is that, in the nest and right up to the juvenile moult, the amount of yellow pigment can range from quite a lot in patches to so little I can't see it. So you have to be patient and wait until the juvenile moult.
The attached pic shows a Violet TurquoiseBlue Cleartail from this year's chicks and he only has the faintest sign of turquoise on his forehead, I have another that has the faintest pale yellow socks that might be staining rather than turquoise. It can be hard to tell.
Kind regards
Mike

Hi Minnie
Now that you raise it I'm not precisely sure, but I think at about 3 or 4 months and it is only the small feathers, not tail and flights.
Kind regards
Mike
