Can you bring your bird to cross country?

Anyone has experience flying their pet bird to a different country? I am moving to China soon from New York and I'd hate to leave my sweetheart behind.

I know each Country has thier own rules and Quarantine period for dogs. so I assume birds would be no different ? Airlines also have a list of rules for shipping the airline you are flying with might be a good place to start looking into the specifications. Good luck with it !
