Help needed on Opaline Emerald
The title got you attention, good.
Today i went to see a breeder & saw the saddest thing, really.
Emerald Opaline young chick
Saddest thing: this bird has both legs paralized, can not use its legs to stand walk and has very little resistance in the legs.
Currently on some injection treatement that the Vet suggested but it is almost at the end of treatment and little to no improvement.
I forgot to take my camera as i wanted to share the most beatiful thing and saddest at the same time..
If anybody has any suggestions of treatment please let me know asap.
I can not say what is going to happen to this bird but you know, if it does not get better soon.
** On the bright side, i saw a just breaking feather young chick possibly emerald that comes from a Green Possibly split Emerald
I asked breeder to send me some pics, or i will go myself to take some.

Re: Help needed on Opaline Emerald
I don't know if this pertains to the bird in question. But I have two cockatiels that suffer from spastic leg paralysis. They at one point had no use of their legs at all. After receiving vitamin supplements over an extended period of time, they are much better and able to move around the aviary more freely. They are also able to perch with the assistance of leaning on something. My vet said it can come and go with some periods being really good and others being really bad. But the one thing I have to always make sure is available is plenty of calcium supplement. Cuttle, and crushed oyster, and spinach leaves offered daily. Other than their legs though, they are in perfect health. They chatter with the others, and eat and preen normally. If the bird is not suffering, can they not find him a good pet quality home?
I am owned by my birds...and I wouldn't have it any other way

Hi Sky
Thanks for the input, I will pass on to the breeder what you've experienced with you tiels, hopefully he will decide to give him/her an extended chance to come good.
PS X-rays was done and nothing is broken.
