Hi everyone, I decided to join this forum because I am in desperate need of advice.

I have a Green 9 1/2 month old Indian Ring Neck Parrot named " Midori " :)

Midori is gentle at times, especially with visitors, and will let visitors pet it etc, but will not let me or my other half pet it, especially me :( , I have a feeling that the bird might be female.

Midori also tends to bite a lot, especially when we wish to remove the bird from something or our shoulder. :x

Midori seems to be really moody in my opinion. He/she gets fed well, gets attention, has lots of toys and home made jungle gyms, even the freedom to be out of the cage for a day to chill on it's jungle gym, inside the house or on the enclosed verandah. but nothing we seem to do is good enough. :(

Also, with me, I try to get Midori to 'hop up' and it does from time to time, but most times it just side steps away from me like it's afraid of something and then it'll go to bite me. I really don't know what to do or how to do something to stop this behavior. At the beginning everything was going fine, but now I am having so many problems with Midori that it's really upsetting me. :(

We also have a cat, but she knows that Midori is part of the family so she does not harm it, just wants to play. I'm not sure if the cat might be making the bird feel this way or not, but I thought it would help if i mentioned I had one. :)

I love this bird to bits, and I was in tears before over this.... Can anyone give me some advice please?

Hi,

There is probably a good chance that the cat trying to "play" with Midori would be very scary for the bird.
What do you mean by play?
