Dexter at the beach for lunch

Post by clawnz »

I cannot see that I posted this here for some reason.
Sorry if I have posted this before.
The story goes we were working just up the road from the beach and Dexter was in the truck.
When we stopped for lunch we went and got fish and chips then went down to the beach to eat them.
It was a new one for Dexter. I must admit I am always trying new things with him. And seeing how he would react to the water and the seagulls.
He took it all in his stride, I think the biggest threat ended up being the dogs chasing the gulls around.
I think you can see he has settled in very well. Although he did not go far from me, he did go to the ground and play with the shells.

No need to apologise. He's beautiful. He reminds of the Alex we found a couple of weeks ago on our holiday. I still feel guilty that we didn't bring him home when we couldn't find his humans <sigh>.

I grew up in orcland, but jumped the ditch a couple years ago. I thought the weather would be nice in this place called the sunshine coast, it turns out whoever named it was trying to be ironic though...
Do you get to Tiritiri Matangi much? Next time we go to NZ I want to take my boyfriend there!

No I have not been onto the island.
I have fished close by, but that is it.
I have worked and stayed on Motutapu and have rode my ATV on Rangitoto. And though got on well with D.O.C. they never offered to take me out to Tiri.
Things have changed a bit and now I think you can go there by ferry.
The Hauraki Gulf is a great play ground, I love it. But costs money to take the boat out, so never on the water enough.

I haven't been to Tiritiri since the early 90s, it was pretty amazing! When I was a kid we used to go to quite a few beach clean up days on the islands around the gulf. The most exciting trip I got to do was a week on little barrier when, but that was literally the week after the kakapo had been taken off the island :( there were still heaps of other birds though, and soooo many kiwi!

I'm homesick now! Aus is just not the same.
