Hi, I'm new to this site, so if this is the wrong place to post this, I apologize.

I have an albino Indian Ringneck named Jasmine. She is quite tame, and the most lovely bird I have ever had! I worry about her when I am gone at work or out with friends or whatever. I live alone, so when I am gone she is all by herself. I try to take her out at least once a day (when I'm home she is always out), but some days I am gone for most of the day and I worry about her becoming lonely and depressed. I leave the radio playing when I go and leave a light on for her. I was wondering however if anyone could give me ideas of what I can do for her to keep her happy when I am gone, and how I can tell if she is becoming depressed or if she is doing fine.

I had a similar issue with my Ringneck while I was going school. She even began to pull out her feathers which deeply upset me. For me the solution to this problem was to let her sit on my shoulder first thing in the morning when I changed her water and made her fruit kebab and then as soon as I had time in the afternoon. I also bought her a wide variety of toys which I swapped around every couple of days (personally my bird finds shiny toys and things with bells VERY interesting). Another thing you can do is rearrange the cage once a week so your bird can explore and is less likely to engage in destructive behaviours.
