Can Indian Ringnecks and African Ringnecks be caged together?
I have a green 8 month old male Indian Ringneck and I plan to buy a yellow 8 month old female African Ringneck from a breeder and am wondering if they can be caged together as they get used to each others presence. The African Ringneck will come with a cage and toys, so if caging them will be a problem I'll be able to keep them separate.

Thanks for responding :)
I'll just hope that Panchito (my green IRN's name, name given by person I bought him from) will like the company of another bird.

You may want to give them a quarantine time apart from one another. Let panchito get used to his new neighbor before his territory is breached. :)

Before you merge those birds........... Do you have a Hybrid Prevention Plan? Sooner or later you may need one.
Think ahead now.

I heard that the breeding season for Ringnecks in California is during September-March, so if I need to separate them I could take the precaution of separating them during that time

Northern California is more like January through may. Southern California may be a bit earlier.

Yes, I did read something about mutation colour Africans all being hybrid suspects somewhere along the line. I stand by it - even if the African is already "tainted", there's no call to pass that on.

I decided on getting a 3 month old Blue IRN instead which I'll be naming Miku :) if it is a female, that way it would be better for Panchito to get an IRN buddy instead.
I'll be getting him/her in a week :)
How long until I can cage my now 10 month old IRN Panchito with my 3 month old IRN Miku?
should I wait until Miku is at a certain age?
