CHCT Question

Post by littlemiraclesaviary »

I have a question about CHCT. I was sold a pair of Blue CHCT and they are just truned a year old and they ar both starting to get white foreheads indicating that they are both males right? Because females don't get the white heads right?

I have found that in some cases females also display a lighter head but not as full diluted head as cocks and most of my females displaying lighter heads are proven Cleartail/NSLino. I suggest you have them sexed.

Ok at the risk of sounding like I don't know anything what is /NLSino?

I will have them sexed then, I just wanted to avoid stressing the birds if not necessary

NSLino = Non Sex-Linked Lutino or a Recessive Lutino

ok so in CHCT the females have the possibility of carrying the ino gene? Because in other mutations the females can not be split as far as I know. Still trying to wrap my head around a lot of the mutations there are so many.

LMA, you are referring to sex-linked ino. There are actually more than one type of ino. That is specifically why Tienie mentions it is NSL ino. With recessive ino, it acts recessively and no linkage with sex occurs. I.e. a green / NSLino x green / NSL ino can produce NSL inos. So think of it exactly as the blue mutation, but giving yellow birds.

And to confuse things even further: A NSL ino x SL ino will produce NO inos! :D You'll get green / NSL ino / SL ino cocks.
