Hi all!
My name is Davide and I became a dad yesterday
Thought to be a boy he is blue and roughly 9/10 months old.
The poor thing is quite scared hanging from the sides of the cage and doesn't look like he had food yet

hope he will settle shortly, we also took a nap in front of him, and plan to do that for the next few days to get him used to us..will post a picture soon!
Does anybody have any hint to get him to eat?
(I offered him seeds, hazelnut, almond, carrot, lettuce and pear..not much luck!)

Hi David,
Congratulations on becoming a birdy dad!
I'm sure his appetite will pick up when he settles in.It sounds like you've given him a great selection.
Our bird also usually goes crazy for snow peas in the pod, a piece of apple, capsicum (red peppers), cooked sweet potato and baby spinach (I say usually because if I give him the same thing for more than a few days in a row he goes off them). And sunflower seeds, he never gets sick of them!
I hope your bird settles in quickly.

Thanks Claire,
apparently Skyler (that's the name), is calmer now and my girlfriend just texted me saying that he is now drinking and eating in front of her

Next thing will be identifying his favourite food and start socialising him

Will keep you posted!

Today Skyler ate a seed from my girlfriend hand for the first time
Seems like a huge step forward considering that he has neven been tame, and when we brought him home 2 days ago was terrified!
He is also very quite, I thought was a he, but I am not sure now..is it normal that he only calls 2/3 times a day? Seems way too quiet to me!

Enjoy the peace, it might not be forever

Our 9 month old has recently started babbling away for already an hour everyday... practising his words and making funny sounds... He really likes going through his repertoire whenever I get a call about work and he's on my shoulder lol.. Maybe he can take over one day and be my manager..

Today, after having changed cage, it didn't seem that relaxed anymore..when trying to give him seeds through the bars of the cage, he was climbing throu the sides of the cage, walking back and for the perches, getting quite close to the hand and from time to time trying to grab the seed, although I had the impression was actually aiming at the tip of my finger..might that be territorial behaviour?or because I left it without food in the afternoon?

I would think more likely you spooked him a little changing the cage. Be more gentle next time, move slower, speak gently while you do it, and above all don't make him feel trapped in the cage with a scary thing (you). Maybe give him a biggish treat to keep him occupied as you do it, though he may just drop it anyway.
