I'm new to this forum and somewhat of a novice with birds. My husband placed a deposit down this weekend for a new blue indian ringneck as a wedding/bday gift for me and I couldn't be happier!

I'm looking to learn as much as I can about these beautiful creatures. I'm glad this site is available because I've definetly learned a lot from reading from peoples experiences. I do have a 15 yr old cockatiel which I adopted about 5 months ago named Gino (the Lutino). I'm in the process of training him since he has had a hard time adapting to the changes. I believe the previous owners didn't socialize with him much and his last cage was just too small for him. I'm hoping that i've made significant progress with Gino by the time my baby comes in the next month or so when he has been weaned. I want my baby ringneck to have a good example. I adopted Gino after loosing my very precious Keefer(Quaker Parrot). Unfortunetly, he flew out of my window on a sunday morning. I searched for about an hour, found him on a tree down the street. As I had my neighbors helping me bring him down a hawk flew up and attacked my Keefer. They flew away and the end is history. His loss impacted me in a way that I never thought it would. I considered adopting another quaker but no other Quaker can replace my Keefer. Maybe in the near future I will consider one as a another member of my growing family.
Any feedback, comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to learning from everyone and sharing our funny stories about our birds.
