Calculator Question - Cleartails

I have a male green cleartail which should be split turquoise.

His parents were 1.0 Turquoise/cinimmon/cleartail and 0.1 green cleartail. Visually, he is a green cleartail.

I am attempting to enter him into the genetics calculator as a green cleartail split turquoise, even though I am selecting the turquise as a split correctly, as the dropdown closes, it becomes a "cleartail turquoise"and appears to calculate offspring as such instead of as coming from a split. I am mating him to a violetblue.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Hi firstly you will have to establish if your male is split to turquoise as with his parents genetics he could be anyone of the 4 possible birds in the results below

  1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue /cinnamon cleartail
x 0.1 green cleartail
% from all 1.0
12.5% 1.0 green cleartail /turquoise(parblue) cinnamon <---- could be this bird
12.5% 1.0 green /turquoise(parblue) cinnamon cleartail
12.5% 1.0 green cleartail /blue cinnamon <---- could be this bird
12.5% 1.0 green /blue cinnamon cleartail
12.5% 1.0 green cleartail /turquoise(parblue) <---- could be this bird
12.5% 1.0 green /turquoise(parblue) cleartail
12.5% 1.0 green cleartail /blue <---- could be this bird
12.5% 1.0 green /blue cleartail
% from all 0.1
12.5% 0.1 green cleartail /turquoise(parblue)
12.5% 0.1 green /turquoise(parblue) cleartail
12.5% 0.1 green cleartail /blue
12.5% 0.1 green /blue cleartail
12.5% 0.1 green cinnamon cleartail /turquoise(parblue)
12.5% 0.1 green cinnamon /turquoise(parblue) cleartail
12.5% 0.1 green cinnamon cleartail /blue
12.5% 0.1 green cinnamon /blue cleartail

So your male could be split to either turquoise or blue and could also possibly be carrying a cinnamon split as well

If your bird is indeed split turquoise then all you have to do is select cleartail under visual and turquoise under split and for the hen select both violet and blue under visual and your results will be as follows

  1.0 green cleartail /turquoise(parblue)
x 0.1 blue violet(sf)
% from all 1.0
25.0% 1.0 green /blue cleartail
25.0% 1.0 green violet(sf) /blue cleartail
25.0% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue /cleartail
25.0% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue violet(sf) /cleartail
% from all 0.1
25.0% 0.1 green /blue cleartail
25.0% 0.1 green violet(sf) /blue cleartail
25.0% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue /cleartail
25.0% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue violet(sf) /cleartail

Thank you, however I am still questioning the calculator. The one I am having a problem with is Madas's calculator at http://www.halsbandsittichmutationen.de ... tPage.html

When I attemp to load a male green cleartail split turqouise, By selecting

Cleartail and double checking turquiose to get the split, when the window closes it interpits it as a turquiose cleartail vice a green cleartail split turqouise. At least I think it is calculating it wrong becuase all the babies are a variance of turqouise.

Also, I am curuious, as to how you are copying and pasting the mutation combinations? Madas's calculator has never let me copy anything and the other one, if you highlight and copy, gives you the table as well.

Thanks

Jim

Hi Jim, unfortunately I cannot comment on the calculator on Madas website, as I have never used his calculator, simply because all my internet usage is via my Blackberry mobile phone as I don't have internet for my home pc.

With Madas calculator, you would need a pc to use it as my phone won't be able to download the silverlight software, so I'm sure Madas will be able to help you in this regard

With Gencalc, I simply select copy and paste the results here, and if you want an image of the results, I simply use an app called screengrabber, which acts in the same way as one would press the "Print Screen" button on the pc to capture an image of whatever is one the screen at the time. I then upload the pic to my account at www.imageshack.us and copy and paste the link here and it shows the actual pic on the forum.

Hope this helps

Thanks

You found a bug. I will try to fix it. :D

Meanwhile you can try this one: http://www.halsbandsittichmutationen.de ... ublish.htm Handling is the same but unfortunately only in german. :(
It's a PC Version. The other one is a online Version made with Silverlight.

greetings madas
