My IRN seems quite lonely

Hi All
I have had my IRN now for 2 weeks. We are building a close bond together 'Sonu', is around 7 months, still unsure whether it's a male or female. Eventually when sonu is old enough I will introduce a mate and hopefully things will progress from there. Question is what would be the best combination if I were to get another ring neck now. Sonu has a 3ft by 1ft cage.
On the basis that Sonu is a male
- Get another male IRN similar age
- Get a female IRN similar age
and vice versa if sonu is a female.
I just dont want to get a IRN that is the opposite gender and then causing issues like mating while they are both really young.
Any Ideas?
