He was hand raised but is scared when we try to get him to step up onto our hand we have had him for 11 days he doesnt like being handled and he is not very affectionate is this normal behaviour for a hand raised bird? We spoil him and try to make sure he is feeling welcome and not pestered in his new home...

Sometimes the term "hand raised" is thrown around a bit too loosely, they might have been hand fed but the breeder may not neccessarily have been taking the time to actually teach the bird to step up, and also maybe not spending quality time with it aside from feeding time. Not saying this is the case with YOUR bird as I ofcourse have no idea how it was brought up

Just something other people may not be aware of. I know of breeders who are hand feeding up to 30 baby birds at a time and they are sold as "hand raised" birds but people need to realise they still require a fair bit of training. Good luck and spend as much time as possible with your birdie!
