Help please
I have just got my 5 month old IRN, Bleu he is wonderful, very quiet (has not made a word in 2 weeks, but on reading this forum, now know this is normal, many thanks) the problem I am having is he will step up onto my hand, but as soon as he is out of the cage he flies off (he has clipped wings, but still can fly to a certain height) and just will not stay on my hand??? so training him is a No! No! any tips on keeping him on my hand please

Hi Dawn
Does he accept treats from your hand? That is the first step to training your bird. You can give him rewards for staying on your hand. Also, if you are interested, trick training is useful to create a bond between you and your bird. Do you have a separate play area (such as a bird gym or play stand) where you can interact with him?
As your bird becomes more comfortable with you he will want to stay on your hand more, at the moment, he is probably still a little uncertain of you. It will come with time when you treat him well.

Does he take treats from your hand?
Regarding the playstand, mine probably only stay on it whilst I'm training them but they love training so I have no problems getting them there. Your playstand needs to be the right height. Too low & they won't feel comfortable. Mine is about my eye height when I'm standing.
