Hello from New Zealand

Hi my name is Denise I live within the top half of the North Island of New Zealand. I was given a pair of grren IRN's about 2 years ago, they were about 1 year old then. I have a very large outside cage for them. I previously searched this fab site and from help in the posts, built a nest box - which I put in the cage. The problem is that the birds don't seem interested in it. I saw them mating for the first time approx a month ago, but so far there are no sign of any eggs. Should I be worried? or maybe split the birds up? or put in another male? I have breed cockatiels before but never had anything to do with IRN's. Any help would be very much appreciated, as these birds are just so beautiful. Thanks. :D

They may need a bit more time. If nothing has happened by the end of the season it could be worth changing the pairs around but only keep one breeding pair per cage.

Kia Ora!!!!

I am situated in Auckland.

Don't worry eggs will come, it just takes a few goes at it. Birds have birdy instincts, they'll try and try until they die really.
Sometimes though, they'll smash the eggs if they are threatened. So do your best not to move their box, look inside it (go anywhere near it) and hope for the best.

I wish you luck !
