Strange Behavior for a female?

Post by TomAndGene »

Hey guys, This morning i was asleep and at about 5:50am my birdy was doing her normal chirping to wake me up.
I eventually got up and opened her cage and she flew down to my bed like she normally does in the morning.

Now the strange thing is, i fell asleep again on accident :P. When i opened my eyes shortly after feeling my pillow move i saw my bird right next to me, almost dancing, bobbing her head and shaking it left and right like belly dancers do with her eyes fully pinned, I've had her for almost 8 months (I think) and i've never seen this behavior from her, Is it normal?

Also, I've done a lot of reading on how males will lift their wings into a heart shape and bend their neck and pin while presenting, and a lot of reading on how the females bend their heads back and cluck, My bird does both on a regular basis, Is there any other ways i can go about finding out my birds sex without doing a feather/blood test?

P.s, She has little black patches on her cheeks under her eyes, does that indicate anything?

Thanks, Tom.
(I refer to gene as a female out of convenience, Will try to add more pics shortly)
