Hi all :O) x

Post by Sweetedge »

Hi all

Sorry I haven't managed to come on here much lately as have just had our first child so things are a little hectic around here!! haha Sullie however loves his new little sister and when she makes noises he gets very excited indeed!! haha

I think I can now confirm he is in fact a boy as looks like he's having his first BIG proper molt and he's getting black and pink\orange round his little neck and black is starting to go under his beak as well! Going to be very strange seeing him with a proper ring soon!! hehe

Quick question - he's very tame with me out of his cage - he flies to me, talks to me, lands on my hands and head and takes food from me - BUT when I go up to him in his cage he comes up on the perch and opens his beak at me like he wants to lunge and bite me - I'm hoping this is just him telling me that his cage is HIS territory? It's just that he doesn't do this to my husband only me :(

All good apart from that though :) Hope everyone is ok

My boy is the same around his cage too but otherwise very tame. I would say it's pretty much territorial behaviour. Why doesn't do it to your husband? I have no idea but I can tell you that they have very different relationships with different people so what holds for one doesn't necessarily hold for the other.

Glad to hear other than that things are going okay... and congrats on your newest addition!

Ellie.

Thanks Ellie :) he only does it when I go up to his cage and he's in it - I figured it was just him telling me to back off as it was his territory - but it's good to know other birds do it as well and it's not just me lol

My husband has always been the one since he was a baby that puts Sullie away and puts him to bed and when he was young and wouldn't go in etc, he would have to catch him sometimes (Not anymore though as he goes in on his own now) , so I think Sullie sees him maybe as the flock master or something, where as I'm just part of the flock lol Like I say, once he's out - I'm the one he comes too - he even comes out and shouts 'want monkey nut' LOL such clever little things eh?

The new addition is doing well thanks - Sullie has even offered her a monkey nut lol hahaha :)
