I clipped Kai's wings.. a little pleased with myself

Well the day came. We had to clip Kai's wings again. he was having so much fun being able to fly

BUT :-

We had a close call to losing Kai out the back door so that was it.

I didnt want kai to stress with another Vet trip and experience. I wanted to do this myself, for his sake and my future with birds and caring for them myself and the fact I save myself vet fee's ;).

So hubby agreed with no worries about holding him, while I clipped his wings. He was a little pissy, but he loves and trusts me so much he stayed rather calm. I clipped both wings and think I was more nervous than Kai was.

He climbed straight up into my arms and let me kiss him all over as soon as hubby let him go, and then gave me a last firm, actually rather sharp bite kiss as if to let me know he was unhappy i did that to him. Then when he tried to fly and landed on the ground he growled, stayed in the sulks for about 2 hours , but picked up and is fine and very much still loves his mumma.

I had been stressing for a while about doing it myself, I had read so much but was still in two minds about it all. I had never done it before, but had watched the vet do it. Anyway I am a little pleased with myself now :D

Take a look and tell me if you think I did a good job, hubby actually said I clipped him perfectly, much cleaner than even the vet did last time.

WOW! I don't know much about wing clipping but it looks pretty darn good to me. Will you come over and do Byndi's and Remmi's? Tee hee. Guess that's one vet bill I'm going to have to spring for. Let him get the snot bit out of him. Cuz I'm sure if he isn't careful Byndi will let him have it. Good job Angie. You're such a good Mum to your critters. And your children I'm sure! Kai is beautiful as ever. And if he's speaking now, you must video and share! Come on you guys. Hop to! Mikaela too. Don't worry about sound clips, video so I can smile. I need to smile! JOB WELL DONE ANGIE!

If your bird trusts you and you trust your bird then do it! But like with Jen's Byndi, I'd advise her NOT to do it until she has a firm grasp on his temperment. I've clipped so many wings in my life it's not funny but I still wont clip Prinny's! My avian vet told me that most IRNs hold grudges so I don't want to risk anything until we have a completely bond.

You are lucky Kyria that you have that bond with Kai. I guess I'm waiting until she's a year or so.

Er His His!

I think it will take the ring coming in to convince me.

Wonder why some people are so hard-headed (me) yet others arent.

Born or environment? Hrm.
