my bird had his wings clipped recently , but the one who did it wasnt nice , when he grabbed him at first the bird was screaming at him and kept screaming through the process , when he returned him back inside his cage after clipping his wings he hit him on his mouth to stop screaming for like 3 or 4 times which was unnecessary , after i brought the bird back home he was relatively okey , he went back to climbing all over his cage . the day after i got him out of his cage , i handled him a bit rough trying to get a vocal response from him because he has been silent for the past 3 month except for several rare times , after i got him back to his cage he looks sad and he stopped playing at all , even though he still do tricks i taught him for treats "turn around and hand grabbing" , im afraid i might have hurt him when i handled him roughly last time , how do you make a bird get over that and forgive you?

Give him a bit of space!, he must feel really "got at" not to mention confused. As for the guy who struck him, I would have been absolutely furious, "spitting feathers" as we say in the uk. Let your bird get over the trauma and treat him gently and quietly.

Don't ever go back to that person who clipped your bird's wings. That is really, really awful behaviour!

With my guys I've found that they don't seem to remember trauma too much. After Janey got her head stuck between the bars of her travel cage and it took us over an hour to get her out, she seemed to recover reasonably quickly and I never noticed any distrust on her part. It is a good sign that your bird is still doing tricks... all you can do now is try to be more patient and gentle in the future.

P.S. Sometime we all treat our birds in ways we regret later. All we can do is learn from it and do better next time.
