Hi there,
I have had a blue male Indian Ringneck for about a year and a half now, and he is about 2 years old. When we got him I also had a yellow female Indian Ringneck, but unfortunately she passed away about a 8 months ago, which my male (Cookie) didn't take very well. After about 6 months of having Cookie by himself I could see that he was miserable, and so I bought a green Indian Ringneck for company-not hand reared and not long out of the nest. They have been happy together for a while now and I have started working on training Herb (the green one) and he is progressing wonderfully. I don't know whether Herb is a boy or a girl as when I bought him it didn't seem important at the time, but now I have decided that I would like to start breeding Indian Ringnecks. If Herb turns out to be a boy I want to get a female, but I want to know if I would have to keep any of them separated from each other? Obviously when breeding a male and a female I should separate the other male, but before hand would the three of them be fine in the same cage?

I have a blue female and a green male and hoping they will breed this season. I have been told alot that it's best to keep the breeding pairs separate from others, but not totally 100% sure. You would think they would be ok all together except for breeding time. Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me will answer you post I would also like to have some more ringnecks because my aviary is quite large for just two IRN's but I won't get anymore until long after my first two breed. Hi Jess!

I was looking into a pair of lutino ringnecks that had already had one clutch of eggs, however when I went to the shop to speak to the breeder about them I became quite smitten with a certain hand-reared Rainbow Lorikeet. The breeder told me a little about them and I have been doing a lot of research on the breed, and have decided instead to go with a breeding pair of lorikeets that were at the shop. I am going to continue working with my ringneck pair and who knows, in the future they might breed too! But tomorrow I will be buying the lorikeet pair to hopefully breed later this year. I know this is an IRN forum but hopefully it will be okay for me to post a few pictures of my new pair when I get them, hopefully enjoying some play-time with my ringnecks!

Wow thats so exciting, I deffinately hope you do post some pics of your wonderful lorikeets. Every now and again I see wild ones flying above my backyard and think how gorgeous they are. My mum also feeds wild ones that have become very friendly. Are the ones you are getting hand raised? And are you going to hand raise the babies from them? I am hoping to hand-raise my baby IRN's. I'm so clucky I have everything ready for the babies even though my pair probably won't breed until next month (if I'm lucky). Anyway hope all goes well with your Rainbow lorries. Don't forget to post some piccies!
