How to get Lutino and Blue; possibly Ino

Post by Rueae »

I'm looking for help into breeding my own line.
If I start with a green, that had green parents and therefore is just the green in genetics what do I need to pair it with to get babies that are split for both Lutino and blue or Lutino and ino? It'd be awesome if there was a bird I could pair to get Lutino, blue and blue ino, but I'm not sure if that's possible.

I figure a green male and a female that was born of a blue and lutino parent each, regardless of visible color would be either: blue/lutino or lutino/blue. Am I wrong?

And again, I'd rather be able to produce all three colors (blue, lutino and blue ino) the further I go.

Any help is appreciated.

You are correct.pairing a albino cock to a green hen or a lutino cock to a blue hen will give you...
Green/lutino/blue cocks and lutino/blue hens. These will have to be paired together to give you...
Greens,blues,yellows and whites.

We're supposing that one of my pair is just normal green with no splits.

If I get a mate for that one, that was produced from a Lutino and Blue pair; then I would have all green babies split to lutino and blue, correct?

I also know that dominant colors are green and grey, but what other very dominants are there?

I'm also thinking I'd love to incorporate some cinnamon or pallid splits as well.

Hi,
first of all you have to distinguish between a male or a female because if for example you pair a blue male and yellow female, their young female will be green/blue only.

If I get a mate for that one, that was produced from a Lutino and Blue pair; then I would have all green babies split to lutino and blue, correct?
No,some will be only green with no splits, some only split to yellow, some only split to blue and some to both.Visually they will be all green but you would not be able to know which is which.

To produce all 4 colors with equal possibilities I suggest you have a green male paired with a white female.
Then keep a young male from the above pair and pair it again to a white female.

Alright, so if I have a male green and pair to a white female and keep the baby and do it again; what are the splits of that baby I kept back to breed? Ino?

This does seem the best route though.
