Would like some advice on getting another bird!

At the moment I have a ringneck who is 1.5yrs old, he's very sweet and I give him a lot of time out of his cage. I feel sorry for him when I'm away all day and he has no one around. He has a perch in the mirror of the bathroom and he will sit there and look at himself and refuses to leave, I think he likes and feels the company of 'another' bird with him.

I am just worried if I get another bird that he will get jealous or our bond will be lost, or that he won't get along with the other bird? And if it would be better getting a girl or a boy?

call me crazy but i would get one that's the same colour. especially if your irn is blue. this is not an exact science and i will not take any responsibility if you choose to take my advice ha ha

Is your IRN definitely a boy? If so, you can get a boy or a girl although if you don't want them to breed a boy would be better. We got our second bird at about the age of yours and it worked fine although I was apprehensive that it might not as there are no guarantees. I put a lot of time in with both of them and it hasn't wrecked the bond between us at all.
