G'day from South Australia

G'day all :) I'm Sarah, from a small country town in South Australia. My partner Ronnie and I have been "haunting" your forums for a while, so I thought I should introduce myself. You have a wonderful resource here - thankyou!!

Ronnie and I have long been believers in the healing power of pets, and we all know parrots make great companions! I work as a carer with disabled adults, and often take my birds to my clients, and Ronnie himself has a mental illness. So our goal is to breed and hand rear our birds, and then donate them to seniors, aged care facilities and the disabled.

We currently have 17 parrots in all, plus 6 zebra finches.

Our Asiatics:
We have 7 ringnecks:
a bonded grey male and albino hen
5 green unsexed babies
A moustache parrot we suspect to be female (18 months old - possibly to breed with an Alexandrine!?)

Our Aussie parrots:
Bonded pair of Red Rumped parrots (normal male, cinnamon hen)
Single normal Red Rump hen
Pair of turquoise parrots
Pair of scarlet chested parrots
A cheeky Rainbow Lorikeet baby called Charlie
A beautiful baby Galah called Jack

We're in the process of converting an old caravan into an aviary & are looking for partners for our young & single birds :)

I'll post some pictures when I figure out how to

Hello parrotgal!

Wow, sounds like you have quite a large family there. I could not agree more with your statement about parrots healing. They really are such wonderful animals. Though it is true that it takes a special person to own a parrot, they give off such wonderful energy. Every day I am blessed to have my birds as I know our life to them seems so “foreign.”

I think that it is wonderful what you are doing for the elder, as It makes me feel so good to hear someone bring joy to others through their birds! On that note, I want to welcome you to the forum! I am so happy you are here and have been lurking around taking in all the information here by our wonderful members.

Welcome to the family!
