Cage Size

Hey,
I'm looking into purchasing two new cages for my babies and I wanted to make sure the size is good. I know there are posts about it and all. But I can't look at those pics and tell if the ones I'm looking at are ok size wise. The dimensions are 24X22X30. I think. Can't remember specifically. Please let me know if this is an ok size. The bar spacing is either 3/8 or 5/8. Can't remember, but no bigger than that.
Thanks,
Jen

Hoping to be able to put them where their cages are now. Found them on Ebay and they're $205 each and free shipping. So... Wish me luck!

Nice price. I think I got Prinny's for 207 at a store somewhere here. I think it is just a tad larger and came with a stand.

This is a discussion that took place some time ago.
I highly urge you to read these threads COMPLETELY before making ANY purchase.

The wrong cage can kill your bird.

I have read all of those threads! Time and again. I was just asking again to make sure this size would be ok. I know about the bar spacing and all. I'm not going to KILL my bird with the wrong size cage! I just wanted to double check on the size to make doubly sure it was ok! Didn't notice in those threads the exact size. Just saw a lot of pictures, which didn't help. So that's why I asked. Thanks for the warning tho'. Sorry for the tude today, in a very bad mood!

Woo hoo, husband printed off specs on the cages and they are 24x22x34 with 3/8" bar spacing. So I think these will be nice cages for the fids. Hope so at least cuz this is where they will be for a good part of their lives, unless we win lotto! And that's so not likely cuz we don't even play. Tee hee! I'll send pics when we get them. Hmmmmm.....now I must figure out a way to buy more toys for the babies since they'll have lots more room. How can I manage to do that without it being noticed? Any suggestions ladies?

Welll..... you buy a whole load, take the tags off and put them in the cupboard. Each week pull a couple out and put some old ones in. Now if he opens that cupboard (yeah right) you can just say they are all old toys, you just have not used many of them coz you got them in a sale months ago.
James has never noticed anything like that anyway so I dont really worry. Datsun had 53 toys at last count but I make her share with her brothers and her cage is always being re-arranged. I never throw away old toys either, just try to find a new way to use it or incorperate it in with other toys.

Jen .. I just love the opportunity shops (op-shops) here . Bags of toys for $2 .. baby toys for like 10c and 50c . We have an opshop that runs from an animal shelter that places unwanted pets and it has heaps of really cheap stuff for dogs cats and birds. At the op-shops I look for everything .. kids and baby toys .. natural fibre ropes .. old wooden tables and stands, things people would throw away but I can use the wood from. They even have baskets of jewellery on the front counters, I get plastic bangles and beads from, leather belts, all kinds of stuff. Just think past the box.
One of Kai's favorite toys is his baby perch. its one of those baby basinet strings with plastic owls and spinning things on it, pulled tight across one corner of his cage .. he loves it
and Jordans is on the outside of her cage. s/he loves to perch on this and spin the rings, tries so hard to get the ball out of the center, great stimulation for her/him

Angie,
Those toys are awesome. Never seen anything like them. We don't have any type of shops like that. Or I'd be all over em! I do go to WalMart and get baby toys for the fids. Teething toys. They enjoy those! I'll keep it in mind and keep an eye out for it.
