I swear Remmi is the MESSIEST bird I have ever seen in my life! He can't keep his room clean. The door to his cage has always got food, poop, feathers all over it. He poos all over his perches and leaves food everywhere. He is constantly just grabbing food from both bowls and putting it into his water dish. Then his water is icky. And there is food all over the bottom floor of his cage. He is the messiest little guy around! It's also all over the floor of my house too. He feels he must sit in the door way of the cage to eat when we're home and the door is open. So he has food in his mouth and as he's trying to climb the bars he drops the food, all the time. It's so cute cuz then he'll just climb up and turn his head sideways and look at it on the floor. By which time one of my dogs is over there scarfing it up. And thanking him. His cage stays really nice and clean for about a day and a half. Then it looks like a total mess! Do any of you guys have dirty birds on your hands?? I always tell him he wins the messiest cage contest again this week! But I love him dearly!

We have a lot of birds who do stuff like that, so I just wipe down cages as I go along. Change a water dish... use a bit of vinegar and water to wipe off the bars too.
Mazzie used to always wipe her beak on her bars, now she does it on a perch I put in there instead.
Go figure, the bars were easier to clean.

I must beg to differ here.
My birds are the messiest birds in the world.
Kai takes great pleasure in walking to the edge of his door and dropping all the food he doesn't want out the door and onto the floor. Then he proceeds up to the top of the door to sit and be Mr poop machine all over the food he just dropped. Then I proceed to talk to him and give him morning kisses and his treats of which the husks just add to the mess. Feathers stick to it all and cause an unsightly concoxtion. I have put drop rugs there that I change every other day. I i vaccum and clean cages just as often
Jordan , well I believe kai must be sneakily teaching her/him the exact same thing.
Then there is their day stands oh my god! I won't start.
NEWSPAPERS PLEASE! I have called for everyone I know to send me their spent reading material. with Budgie now and cockatiel to come I am gonna need all the paper I can get.
I think we might all agree .. ringnecks are pretty damn messy creatures.
HOw about those of you with other birds. Please tell us if they are the same as the ringnecks. Or is it just coz IRN's are big fruit and veg eating birds, they get to drop all that mess and poop alot more coz of it ?

Datsun is calculating with her mess, shes pretty tidy unless she is pissed with me then she buries her head in her food bowl and flicks it all on the floor. She is toilet trained unless she feels she isnt getting enough attention and then she poops on the floor next to her cage!
But out of all my terrors Audi the lovie is the messiest!!! He deliberately picks up his rainbows and puts them in his fresh clean water, so I change it and before I even clip the bowl in he will be coming with a new one!!!! He now has 3 water bowls so when I am at work he has some clean water but all 3 will be filthy in minutes! If he werent so darn adorable I would... well... I would do everything I am now
I clean everyday and do a thorough clean every week and their rooms are still a mess. Honestly, I wouldnt have them any other way

I gotta admit, Baby is a clean girl. Her water even stays clean BUT I had to put her water further from her food to accomplish this.
Cheif is a pig grrr. He likes to dig his head into his food and throw it too. I have to vacuum for him daily.

Times all that mess by 5 for the 5 Ringnecks that I have, times that by 10 because they can fly and distribute mess far and wide then times THAT by 4 Sun Conures that can also fly and are far more destructive.. IRNs are nice birdies that dont get into nearly as much trouble as Sun Conures.
I wont describe my house to you because it's embarrasing needless to say my vaccume cleaner is the top of the line.. Worth every penny.
As bappy would say when she learns some more words I'm OWNED.

That is funny

. Tonka has obssesive compulsive disorder and cleans like a disgruntled mother in law. All toys, food etc must be in a bowl. If he cant get it up to one he sits on the bottom of his cage with it and screams till you put a ladder to a food bowl. Only mess he makes is putting stuff in his water. He struts around when he has finished like seargent major doing an inspection. I must have hit the oddball. Yay another pet with issues!
