If the baby bites, closed fist, bite hurts much less.
Otherwise, your pointing finger.

i thought it was better to slide your hand under birds feet but then your thumbs cop it if you come the wrong way.just doing some reasearch because aaron has just ordered 3 new spiders so i think he should let me get a new baby.

I tap Baby on her tummy and say 'Up'
In sort of a swooping fashion, I suppose.

Hrm...
I give em a finger, open hand... and if they get stubborn I grab em?
Does that count?

With NEW new babies I slide my entire hand under the birds body two fingers under the keel and one on the other side of each leg. As I lift the bird is supported and will pull it's feet up. Babies that young have really bad coordination.
Later on I push down slightly on their feet, or try and get my finger wiggled underneath a claw. They dont resist they just dont know what the hell I want from them. Once your bird KNOWS what you want they are more willing to help you. Thats why a vocal command is really helpful.
