Is it normal for an 8 month old irn to lose the tail feathers first during a molt? My baby has lost 2 tail feathers in the past few days... Just wondering if that's normal. And they fell out naturally, they were not broken in any way..

It depends if it's moulting season then this is normal. If not more time and observation is necessary.

Thanks for the reply. He saw the vet yesterday and the vet seems to think he's molting but took a fecal sample for testing as well. I will hear by the end of the week. Other than the fallen feathers, he is completely normal... Eating, vocalizing, playing.. Guess I'll just keep a close eye.

Mine lost their tail feathers during their first moult, at around 8-9 months. At one point, they were down to just their shortest feathers. They look so strange with out them. I never went to a vet, as the breeder said it was normal and to be expected; they weren't acting any different.
