leg banding problem, Help!

Hi, guys i have recently bought an indian ringneck and i am not sure of its age, it has a leg band on and i was wondering if anyone can gelp me in decoding it.
The leg band reads- LM 475 03 (which is slanted) 0022. I was wondering if the 03 is the year of the birds birth. If the bird was born in 03 that would make it 8 year old and i was sold the bird as this years stock!

i would have to say you are right 03 should be the hatch year lm 475 should be the breeders info and the 0022 would be the number he gave the bird such as the 22nd bird he banded that year

Ok that makes sense, now that i know it doesnt make a difference, i still love her.
It just a shame people have to decieve other people to get whant they want.

You should ask for an explanation from the seller and give him a piece of hour mind for being dishonest. If you leave well enough alone he is still out there and who knows what he will do next.

The thing is I bought it from an aquaintance, who bought it privately through a classified ad, who bought it from the aviary, so you can imgine that contacting the original breeder would be hard. I have talked about it with the person I got it off and she hardly knows the details of the bird herself. I will have to put it down to experience in this case and be alot more vigilent in the future, if I don't see what I like then I will confront them about it.
