Housing with other birds

Hi I
I have what I believe is a 12 month old IRN and am wondering what other bird can be housed with him.

I've read that birds of the same species generally get along well enough to be caged together. I'm not sure about housing with a different species. But I am not for housing them together at all.. unless they are a breeding pair. I have read that if you house two birds together they become intensely bonded to one another and you lose your closeness with them both.. they revert to being a little more wild and over protective of each other... However I'm not sure. To be on the safe side my birds are caged side by side so that they may see each other and talk to each other but not become too overly bonded to one another.
