im woundering if this is an acurate way to "sex" IRNS and other simalaur sized birds

long stor short, the person who tourght me how to use a crop needle and a lot of the other stuff about birds was "old schooled"

he breed a lot of peach face and masked love birds and said that the best way to sex them was by feeling the hip bones ( a hen bird has wider spacing than a cock bird)

i have found that it can work for cockiteals as well for the mutations that are hard to tell visualy.

but dose that hold any accuracy for any other birds?

You mean the vent bone test...ie the gap is supposedly wider in hens? This method is age old and used to be common practise among old generation pigeon fanciers.
I am an old school pigeon/psittacine fancier and I certainly do not advocate this. We are far advanced in surgical /dna sexing to take the guesswork out of bird pairing. Forget it.
