African Ringneck What?

That is what I said two months ago when an African Ringneck flew into my cabin window (out in the middle of nowhere). Thankfully we had a dog cage in the garage and he lived there for two weeks.

I tried desperately to find his owners. Flyers. Craigslist. Local vets (yes, I had him checked for a chip). Door-to-door to every local cabin. Eventually, I came to terms with the fact that this bird was growing on me and that I was not going to surrender him to a shelter. He now needed a permanent cage. A week later he was traveling 5 hours to his new semi-permanent home in his new cage in the back seat of my truck between my two children. I say semi-permanent home because I will return him to his owners if they are ever found.

Bells, spends 80% of his day outside of his cage. He loves "floor time". I lay a sheet on the floor with toys and lay on my stomach and we play. He loves taking a shower with me. He loves grapes and noodles. In the two months that he has been with us, he has learned to say "baby" and "pretty, pretty, pretty, bird." He also has an expanded whistling habit.

I realize I have so much to learn about this little bird. I look forward to gaining all of the advice I can from each of you.

Hi

It will be sad if you do find the owners and have to give the bird back especially since you seem so attached now :)
