Hi I have a green dilute edge cinnamon hen (no genetic history available for this bird), what will be the best cock to put to this hen and what colour chicks will I get?

Thanks Lushen

Hi I have been trying several cock combinations for this bird but seem to have no joy to get a match I like, can someone suggest a suitable combination for this bird to get a good selection of babies

Hi Glenn
What I want to achieve with this bird is to get the best possible mate for her so that she will produce babies with a wide range of colours if that's possible.

I used the genetic calculator and tried the following combinations

1) 1.0 grey(sf) green cinnamon
x 0.1 green edge_dilution cinnamon
% from all 1.0
50.0% 1.0 grey(sf) green cinnamon /edge_dilution
50.0% 1.0 green cinnamon /edge_dilution
% from all 0.1
50.0% 0.1 grey(sf) green cinnamon /edge_dilution
50.0% 0.1 green cinnamon /edge_dilution

2)  1.0 blue cinnamon
x 0.1 green edge_dilution cinnamon
% from all 1.0
100.0% 1.0 green cinnamon /blue edge_dilution
% from all 0.1
100.0% 0.1 green cinnamon /blue edge_dilution

3)  1.0 ino
x 0.1 green edge_dilution cinnamon
% from all 1.0
100.0% 1.0 green /ino cinnamon edge_dilution
% from all 0.1
100.0% 0.1 ino /edge_dilution

4)  1.0 pallid
x 0.1 green edge_dilution cinnamon
% from all 1.0
100.0% 1.0 green /pallid cinnamon edge_dilution
% from all 0.1
100.0% 0.1 green pallid /edge_dilution

These are some that I tried, is there any other combinations that you would suggest

Hi there i would do this but thats just me.

1.0 blue violet(sf) cinnamon /edge_dilution
x 0.1 green edge_dilution cinnamon
% from all 1.0
25.0% 1.0 green cinnamon /blue edge_dilution
25.0% 1.0 green edge_dilution cinnamon /blue
25.0% 1.0 green violet(sf) cinnamon /blue edge_dilution
25.0% 1.0 green violet(sf) edge_dilution cinnamon /blue
% from all 0.1
25.0% 0.1 green cinnamon /blue edge_dilution
25.0% 0.1 green edge_dilution cinnamon /blue
25.0% 0.1 green violet(sf) cinnamon /blue edge_dilution
25.0% 0.1 green violet(sf) edge_dilution cinnamon /blue

I would then hope your hen is split blue and these outcomes would be possible.

1.0 blue violet(sf) cinnamon /edge_dilution
x 0.1 green edge_dilution cinnamon /blue
% from all 1.0
12.5% 1.0 blue cinnamon /edge_dilution
12.5% 1.0 blue edge_dilution cinnamon
12.5% 1.0 blue violet(sf) cinnamon /edge_dilution
12.5% 1.0 blue violet(sf) edge_dilution cinnamon
12.5% 1.0 green cinnamon /blue edge_dilution
12.5% 1.0 green edge_dilution cinnamon /blue
12.5% 1.0 green violet(sf) cinnamon /blue edge_dilution
12.5% 1.0 green violet(sf) edge_dilution cinnamon /blue
% from all 0.1
12.5% 0.1 blue cinnamon /edge_dilution
12.5% 0.1 blue edge_dilution cinnamon
12.5% 0.1 blue violet(sf) cinnamon /edge_dilution
12.5% 0.1 blue violet(sf) edge_dilution cinnamon
12.5% 0.1 green cinnamon /blue edge_dilution
12.5% 0.1 green edge_dilution cinnamon /blue
12.5% 0.1 green violet(sf) cinnamon /blue edge_dilution
12.5% 0.1 green violet(sf) edge_dilution cinnamon /blue

I will say this but it will be hard to find the male i have suggested as you wont know if its really split until you start producing results.

Ithink its about the best you can do!!!

Thanks Glenn
