Hi all,

I was wondering what ring formation looks like in the beginning stages? My blue IRN is supposably female, she is 2.5yrs...lately im noticing a grey ring getting darker around her neck. I know females can have a light ring. With males does it start out grey and darken, or do black feathers appear from the start until the ring is complete?

Hey Sarah,

You'll see black feathers start to appear after the next moult. So no, the ring does not darken over time. Also, because you have a blue rinngeck you would also see white feathers appear as well.
