7 week old albino ringneck- chirp changes...concern
Hello! I recently purchased an lutino indian ringneck at 6 weeks old and named it Mango. It is still being fed the formula, but beginning to wean him. Our "family" bird (who now lives with my parents) is a 21 year old green ringneck. We also raised him from a chick. It seems that almost overnight Mango's chirp/vocalizing has changed...he went from very loud, sharp chirps (almost screams) to a very light, almost hesitant cry chirp. Sometimes he is making some interesting sounds like he is discovering he can do other things with his voice. Sometimes he will chirp and not much will come out but air. Is this something to be concerned about? He seems content and normal otherwise. Just now starting to test his wings! I just don't remember our 21 year ringneck going through this particular stage. I appreciate any help I can get!

This is normal as birds do change as the become older if he looks well in hes self then i would not worry to much just make sure he is getting food and water if he is weaned and also insure he is in a place in hes cage where he likes he may also like a little light left on during the night as some birds are night fright i doubt very much that he is trying to do much with hes voice as he is still very young but to me if he is well in hes self and does not look depressed and is feeding and drinking well i would say he is ok just do a few checks on him like see if he is plucking feathers if he has any and also the way he is moving around just keep a eye on him and see how he goes he seems to be ok from what you have said but if you want peace of mind get him checked over by a avain vet
