JOrdans wing hack job (Neo)

Neo you asked to see the wing fully extended. This was the best I could get right now. Hope its shows you well enough
Mitchell and I are both loving her and when she is fully healthy and strong and a little older he will take over solely in looking after her/him.
JOrdan is the sweetest thing, squeeking and looking for a feed, she/he even jerks her head around still like a baby when you come near.
But we were "meant" to have JOrdan, coz she came to us from the bunch
Thanks to all those with advice on feeding and opinions on how JOrdan looks, I have never had a hand raised little one so I am a beginner in that sense, as you all know Kai came to me as an 11 month old. Oh by the way he is my Boy, He is an awesome Bird and my husband is really starting to like him heaps aswell. Jim Can't believe how clever and wonderful IRN's are, especially Kai

-- aww my boys love each other
Cheers !

Kyria... something comes from feeding that baby. It is as if you are an actual parront to the little fella/girl.
You'll probably find that you will have a special connection with that baby above what you have with your other birds. Not that your love will be less or more... I cant even put into words what hand-rearing does but you'll see a difference. In a good way.
S/he is B E A U T I F U L
So glad you got to raise her yourself. Great experience huh?

Thanks !
Mitchell and I are really enjoying it. He melts when s/he reaches up wants to feed from him, especially when he tries to kiss JOrdan and s/he opens his/her beak and makes baby begging noises and peeps right up against his cheek or on his lips. He burst out with "Oh! I just love JOrdan"
It will be wonderful to watch colour come back to JOrdan's beak and slowly over time new feathers come in and be trimmed correctly. Like my hubby says, when we have had time with him/her JOrdan will look awesome.
But Kai is still my Boy , he will always be my special one. My mumma's Boy. He is being so wonderful in all this. I guess because I pay him even more attention (if that is at all possible) to make sure he is still feeling loved.

hehehe

I'm sorry thats a really horrid clip
There is no colour on her beak cos she is young, my babies all look like that atm.

Oh! its just that Chamon showed me pics of a latino she raised at about the same age and it has a very red beak and she seemed worried about JOrdans colouring. Plus Jeremy's 9 week olds had red beaks too, so I was a little concerned. But if its ok then I shall stop worrying. But I will still be feeding extra's etc.
Yes horrid is a good word for it. But soon enough s/he will be all pristine and beautiful. Just you watch and see
Plus from what you have seen and heard so far, do you think JOrdan is around the 7 week mark ? or is it hard to tell from the pictures etc. ?

My creamino has a pretty faint beak if you look at the "lookie wut I got" thread. Your baby is older than the ones I'm feeding atm, they are around 7-8 weeks. I'd guess around 10 weeks or so. One to Two feeds a day would be good unless she's eating enough on her own but feeding once or twice a day wont hurt either way.
I'd be concerned about the beak colour but not worried. Just keep an eye on it and it should improve with good food. I'm really worried about that clip job but unfortunatly I cant show you pics because my birds arent clipped. But if you look at Datsun that's how your clip should look when her wings are folded.
I'll post a picture of the lutino that I have in the morning we can compare.

Thanks Neo .. I know how a clip should look. Kai has his other wing done at the vets and looks wonderful.
I couldn't not take JOrdan simply because of the bad clip because s/he adored my son so much, out of all of the babies there, s/he picked him. That breeder is ok but just crappy at clipping

Those breeders should be shot!! What a horrible clip!! They must be really close to the blood feathers and the actual wing structure. Hope Jordan's wings grow back quickly so he can be gorgeous again.

We are all glad you saved that poor baby. Maybe a stern talking to you breeder would help. Personality is definatly what you should go for in a bird not looks. Just be careful with her till her wings grow back.

Most ino Ringnecks (Lutino, Albino, Creamino) usually fledge with a lighter beak, some have red beaks when they fledge, every bird is different but in the end, they will all end up the same. I wouldn't really worry too much about the beak
That wing clip is horrible, i only take off the first 6, that breeder needs to get a lesson on wing clipping

Yeah! s/he is very unstable, but that is probably also due to being young too. Climbing around the cage s/he is still very unsure footed, but alot better than the first day home, now that the wings are evened out a little better. I will breath a sigh of relief once her wing grows back and is clipped properly
So nice to have a IRN family here to come and get reassurance with.
Thanks everyone ! Luv ya all !

owwweee! that is an awful wing clip. i used to wait until they had fledged and even then only take the primaries, to clip all the secondaries so short on a baby.. ahhh.. its so sad to see birds clipped so badly. my lutino male was permanently flightless due to a bad clip by his previous owner.
watch for chewing as Jordan grows older, my male used to gnaw at his wing, feathers never grew back due to a combination of the damage by the clip and him chewing the few that did come back. so sad

Thanks for that .. I will certainly watch out for that. I hope JOrdan will be ok. I knew the clip was bad, but s/he is such a sweetie pie, I just had to have her/him for my son.

Thanks

and i will. You want to know a secret .. It is so hard to back off and not take over with that baby. I so want to smother it and love it, but I have to show my son and then leave it to him, but in all honesty, watching them together and him loving her/him is the best !
